Most of us can probably relate to the positive feelings resulting from having some summer down with our families. While it feels challenging to juggle parenting, work outside of the home, and camps or childcare, taking a break in summer from our daily routines, work, and school is vital for family wellness. Whether you went out of town, had a "staycation" or had some different routines, the return to "regular" life can feel hard. On one of our last nights on vacation, my husband and I asked each other "what can we bring back from vacation to our life back home?" Upon returning home, I noticed how easy and seamless it was to return to my habits. Habits are hard to change! I invite you to reflect on these questions for your family wellness: How can you enter into Fall and back to school without the "go go go" feelings? What is one habit you might intentionally focus on that you want to change? Can less be more? What might less look and feel like in practice? Parenting is a journey, and Optimal Parenting aims to build a supportive community, so feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
